Project Summary: The North Washington Street Water and Sanitation District is undertaking the 73rd Avenue Improvement Project, a crucial infrastructure upgrade to enhance water service reliability and resilience. This project will replace over 4,300 feet of aging 6-inch cast iron pipe with new, larger 8-inch PVC pipe, increasing capacity and improving fire protection flows. Below are bullet points of the history of this project and what to expect during construction.
Project Duration 125 Days - Substantial Complete November 24th; Final Complete December 24th
The district worked with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to secure funding for this Project.
District received + $870,000 in federal funding through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
District has instructed the Contractor to provide temporary water service to customers when water outages are expected to exceed 4 hours in consecutive duration.
Temporary water service piping is required to meet all NSF 61 and AWWA C651-23 – Disinfecting Water Mains, so water will be safe to use as potable water.
The contractor has indicated that the traffic control plan will be open to residences; however, some work conditions will cause the road to be shut to transient and large delivery truck.
This project is in advance of the County’s 73rd Avenue Improvement project.
Respectfully,
Mike DeMattee,
District Manager
